Layered Luxury

The property’s architecture is characterized by a stunning open layout that welcomes natural sunlight from each side of the residence. To complement this unique layout, Yasmin Alsdais Interiors created a contemporary design scheme elevated by intricately layering premium materials and exclusive ornamental elements.

The entrance majlis features a handmade Fromental customized wallcovering, lanterns and sculptural glass flowers by Lalique. This small but perfectly formed space introduces the concept of layered luxury and exquisite, handcrafted details.

Symmetry & Scale

The design of the main majlis achieves a harmonious design using symmetrical principles and by ensuring that the furniture is unified in scale and height. A rich neutral color palette is accented with gold, wood, steel and mother-of-pearl. A delicate chandelier creates a statement without overwhelming the space. A handmade floral wall sculpture in a triptych format subtly adds depth and character to the space, complimented by floral and damask textured fabrics applied throughout. Soft curvilinear forms echo in the shape of the seating and in three marble and steel coffee tables.

The dining room showcases a rich array of handcrafted bespoke details against a calm, harmonious color palette. Continuity between the dining room and the main majlis area is created with a similar delicate sculptural chandelier and handblown glass table legs. A foldable door crafted from sandwiched glass is a key feature dividing these two areas. With a fabric interlayer between two panes of glass, this semi-transparent partition maintains a sense of openness and privacy.

Spaces Infused with Personality

In the female majlis, a chic art deco aesthetic is achieved using a bold, defined color palette, incorporating purple and black accents. A statement chandelier and asymmetrical artwork give the room a contemporary sophistication.

The informal majlis incorporates rich, subtle hues, thereby unifying it with the main majlis while introducing greater patterning and elements of purple, a favorite of the client. A layered gypsum wall installation reminiscent of an abstract landscape gently illuminates the space.

A bright, fresh ambience characterizes the basement majlis, created using a Mediterranean color palette and a midcentury modern aesthetic.  A landscape-inspired material palette of jute, rattan, travertine, and wood imbues the space with a vibrant natural feel.

This dynamic design approach, wherein each room is imbued with its own unique character, continues into the home’s more private family spaces, including a gym, office, playroom, children’s bedrooms and a private apartment suite. For example, a sky-inspired theme in the nursery results in a calm, tranquil ambience. A semi-abstract olive tree Fromental wallcovering introduces artistry into the clean contemporary space that is the master bedroom. A children’s lounge area is a pop art-inspired, playful retreat. This is a home replete with personality and style.
