Laila Project
A Celebration of Bespoke Artistry
One of our most bespoke residences, the Laila Project involves an intricate and richly layered design featuring luxury handmade ornamentation and bespoke artwork. This is a home that takes you on a design journey rich in texture and detail. Some of these details are subtle, such as the yellow-hued handblown glass inserted into wooden paneling in the main entrance [Image: main entrance] or the shimmering Philip Jeffrey wallpaper in the formal majlis handmade with gold and silver leaf.

Storytelling Through Natural Stone
Inspired by natural stone, the design is a creative story of soft lines, precious materials and organic shapes. This overall concept harmonizes eclectic materials and detailed textures within a balanced design scheme wherein natural elements are echoed throughout. Curvilinear forms are mirrored in the carpet, rounded furniture and gold abstract wall partition in the main majlis. In the informal majlis, a unique spiral ceiling installation handcrafted from mother of pearl and soft pouffes embellished with the same semi-precious stones tell the same design story of natural materials and organic forms. Â In the family area, green foliage and aqua elements complement pool and landscape views.
Fusing Interior and Exterior Architecture
The Laila Project marries modern architecture with contemporary interior design. Our refined client sought an interior in harmony with their unique contemporary residence featuring travertine and black aluminum. Yasmin Alsdais Interiors achieved this by reflecting key architectural details throughout the interior, such as custom designed travertine flooring and marble architraves.
Balancing Form and Function
Beauty and practicality are at the heart of this design. Each element has a function. This can be seen in the bedroom areas; in the master bedroom, shelving and considered lighting have been designed to meet the needs of an avid reader. In the daughter’s bedroom, a Japandi design fuses Japanese and Scandinavian elements. This bright airy room incorporates areas for relaxation, sleep and study. A unique sculptural wall panel provides texture and interest while concealing a television screen. In the basement, an array of carefully selected relief artwork and patterned textiles imbues the space with warmth and creativity.
