A Masterclass in Neoclassical Design
Inspired by Greek and Roman aesthetics and architecture, Yasmin Alsdais Interiors presents a masterclass in neoclassical design. Ornate yet understated, this is a project infused with timeless elegance. After being given the opportunity to renovate several spaces within an established residence, our design team incorporated existing elements within a wholly new design scheme that combines a clean contemporary approach with classic historical references.

A Warm Welcome
Guests are welcomed to the residence via a unique entrance featuring several doorways that lead to a main majlis, an informal majlis, a beauty salon, a theatre, and a hallway to the family area. This key space introduces elements central to the project’s overall design, including rich wooden doors featuring architectural forms, such as paneling and classic pediments. Italianate and Grecian sculptural objects provide subtle moments of decorative ornamentation. Naturally patterned marbles enrich the monochromatic color palette, while a delicate wallpaper mural adds further depth and texture to the space.
Architectural Storytelling
Beautiful photographic artworks featuring architectural images are hung in a salon style along the mirror-lined hallway. In the adjoining sink area, this sense of architectural storytelling continues. Mirrored doors enclosed by architectural frames border a stunning statement artwork. This image cleverly incorporates the architectural theme, and the color palette applied in the dining room. Positioning the sinks in the center of the room enhances the contemporary feel of the space.
Reflections of Crystal and Antique Glass
A stunning interplay of reflective surfaces and sculptural forms characterizes the main dining room. A statement Phillip Jeffries ceiling covering arranged in a grid formation has an antique mirror finish. This reflective surface mirrors the statement chandelier, Baccarat crystal decorative elements and custom-made porcelain flooring. This is a light-filled luxury space. The black-trimmed neutral color palette complements the neoclassical sculptural wall pieces and architectural mirrors. Â One artwork captures the carved drapery of ancient Greek sculpture, while another relief art installation introduces a more contemporary aesthetic and features buttons painstakingly applied by hand.
Spaces for Gathering
The main majlis adjoining the dining room incorporates an elegantly neutral color palette, rich wood, black marble, crystal, and architectural forms to ensure visual harmony between the spaces. Combining the ancient and the modern, the majlis is a sophisticated space layered with texture and subtle patterns. A bespoke three-dimensional leather artwork reflects the floral motif used in the furnishings, furniture and accessories.
A classic country style epitomizes the informal majlis. Providing the client with a distinctive space separate from other parts of the residence. Country wood, an ethanol fireplace, a floral carpet and soft upholstery cohere to create a homely, relaxed space.
